Some of the many viewer comments
I am sitting here stunned. What a beautifully and hauntingly portrayed story. Your mother and father were so brave and so young--it is hard to fathom that this is not a piece of fiction but instead the story of your lives.
A Knock at the Door was not just good, it was inspiring.
Many of us were brought to tears several times during the showing. Of course the story itself is emotionally wrenching. As much as we think we know about the holocaust, the poignancy of the incredible survival tale amidst a world of evil and death forces us to renew our understanding of those times.
A marvelous highly professional, touching production. A contribution to humanity which not many people make in their lives.
Extraordinary! It was so well done. You were seamlessly able to combine a very personal and heart-wrenching story within the context of the larger French wartime scene. Incredibly impactful. Wow!!
WOW! Your documentary was so moving that I fear I do not have the words to describe the impact it had (and has) on me.
It is a great work and a marvelous testimony to the courageous actions of people who refused to look away in the face of evil.
These days all we hear about is the evil and selfishness in this world, so it
was wonderful to be reminded of the love, bravery and decency inherent in people
as well.
The film is beautiful. I could hardly sleep that night, thinking of all the twists and turns and history, and how you conveyed the interlocking pieces through the weaving of narrative and images.
I must say that the documentary has given me so much to think about and I have been doing that frequently since we saw it last night. I am so grateful we were able to experience it.
Your film was beautifully done with sensitivity, good information and attention keeping visuals.
